Home Remedies For Back Pain

Backache, one of the most common ailment result in constant pain, at times unbearable and severe. It might lead to difficulty in bending forward and also on sideways. Feeling as if entire area is sore and sensitive to even slight touch.   

The treatment for back pain depends on the cause. In general however, you can use the following home remedies for back pain:  
  • Apply a hot compress using a hot water bottle.
  • A hot bath also usually helps. If possible, you should sit in a warm tub for a few minutes.
  •  Exercise in order to strengthen the back muscles. Simple stretching exercises are also useful, both when you have a back ache and on a regular basis.
  •  Try to relax and get enough rest to avoid both mental stress and physical strain on your back.
  •  If possible, get a massage. This does not have to be by a professional - a family member can do it equally well as long as they do not use excessive force. Preferably this should be done using massage oil such as eucalyptus oil. Excellent oil is mustard oil in which a little garlic has been fried.
  •  Vitamin C and calcium supplements may help, but consult your doctor before doing this.
  •  If you have a chronic back problem, keep yourself warm and eat hot items.
  •  Include garlic in your daily diet. It is an effective home remedy for back pain.
  •  Boil ten Tulasi leaves in one cup of water until the syrup is reduced to half a cup. Add salt to it after cooling. Take this mixture daily. For severe backache, take it twice a day.
  •  A self massage with Eucalyptus Oil is known to be beneficial. You could also use mustard oil. It is a good remedy for backache.
  •  Guggul is very helpful. Eat half a teaspoon twice a day after meals with warm water.
  •  You can take a mixture of five Black Pepper corn, five cloves and one-gram dry ginger powder in your tea at least twice a day.
  •  Take half a gram of Dalchini powder with one-teaspoon honey at least twice a day for best results.
  •  Gently massage the aching area. It will give you relief from back pain.
  •  Include in diet tomato, carrot, cabbage, cucumber, lettuce, and at least two lightly cooked vegetables such as cauliflower, spinach, carrot, fruits.
  •  While sleeping, sleep on a firm mattress. Avoid sleeping face down.
